Sebert Suspends Grass Mowing Due To Weather Conditions
Posted On: June 21, 2021
You may have noticed that Sebert did not mow your lawn this week. This was intentional due to weather conditions. Our representative from Sebert writes: “Although we were happy to see an early Spring this year, it was unfortunately a dry one. Combined with the excessive heat we are experiencing, intervention in turf maintenance is essential to keep potential damage to a minimum.
The warm, dry weather we are currently experiencing causes heat tracking in the lawn. “Heat tracking” or “Tip burn” happens when mowing or heavy foot traffic occurs on stressed turf; caused by either heat or drought. The turf is close to wilting and when impact is applied, especially from the hot black tires of mowers, tip burn will most likely occur. Although heat tracking and wilt damage has an unsightly appearance, in most cases the damage is not fatal.
Irrigation, rainfall and cooler temperatures will help the turf to recover. The current high temperatures in the 80’s and 90’s combined with very dry/drought conditions are a perfect scenario for heat tracking in the turf.”
Mowing will resume as soon as the weather conditions improve and the Sebert team deems it safe.
